I received a BS in Applied Sociology and MaEd in Counseling from East Carolina University. I was a leadership development coordinator at Meredith College while I pursued a doctorate in higher education from North Carolina State University. In 2000, I enlisted in the U.S. Army, where I served as a linguist/military intelligence specialist and earned an associate’s degree in Korean at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. After serving a combat deployment to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain (Light Infantry) Division of Ft. Drum, NY, I completed my enlistment and relocated to Mobile, Alabama. I completed a master’s degree in secondary social science education at the University of South Alabama. I currently teach 7th grade social studies at a magnet school and serve as our school’s Title I Facilitator as well as a district certified BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) educator. I enjoy implementing educational technology tools and digital content into my instruction and assessment.
