I graduated from East Carolina University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, and again in 2002 with a Master’s degree in Health Education. I attended Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee where I obtained my teacher certificate in 2005. I have been employed by Greeneville City School system since 2003, and have been teaching at Greeneville Middle School in various positions including Gifted Education, Language Arts, and Science. I have been teaching 7th grade science for the last 7 years. Throughout my time as a science teacher I was the school’s Science Team Leader for two years before becoming the grade level team leader in 2014. During my time in science at GMS my students scored 3rd overall in the state for growth and 4th overall in achievement on the state’s standardized science test. My students continue to earn high marks on the state’s standardized science test. I was named GMS & Greeneville City Schools District 2014 Teacher of the Year, and I have presented on various topics at local, state and national levels.
My professional interest include e-learning as well as STEM education. I continually strive to advance technology in my system. I was a pioneer in my system in implementing the Flipped classroom. I am a member of our district wide Instructional Technology Academy and our district wide STEM Leadership team. I am a lifelong learner who is constantly striving to improve my pedagogical methods and strategies for my students.
